Your Rack In, Your Rack Out

Over the life of a rack and pinion assembly, the combination of heat and normal wear & tear degrade seals and components. Even hard components can have wear, causing deterioration in performance and tightness. Our rack rebuilding service will pinpoint issues with your current assembly and repair necessary components to get it functioning at peak performance. We don’t remanufacture or mass-produce rebuilt rack and pinions.

Our rebuilding service includes inspecting every component, replacing every seal, and dyno testing after the rebuild is complete to ensure your rack is performing at its maximum potential.

Turn One rebuilds individual rack and pinions. We are NOT a mass-production rebuilding plant or bulk remanufacturer, and we don’t keep any racks in stock to sell. Our philosophy is simple: the product you send us is the product you get back (unless it has enough issues to warrant sourcing a new rack core, which does happen sometimes).

Base Costs

Standard rebuild starts at $300

Turn One’s rack and pinion rebuilding service is the most comprehensive rebuilding service available. Our service includes properly tear-down, inspection, service, and reassembly racks including all new seals. Whether it be a C4 Corvette or a late model rack, Turn One can make your old rack feel brand new. After reassembly, Turn One dyno tests the rack and tunes it for top quality and performance. *C4 Corvette customers see special notes below

C5/C6 Corvette rebuild starts at $325

Corvettes are one of our specialties. Due to the nature of the electro-magnet wires, we take some extra precautions during the rebuild to seal this commonly-leaking area. **See special notes below

Non-standard rebuild starts at $400

Our non-standard rack rebuild would include unique racks that require special seal kits, special tooling to work on, or hard-to-acquire replacement parts. This would include racks from exotic vehicles or other unique limited-production vehicles/rack assemblies. If you’re unsure of what category your rack and pinion falls into, please call Turn One customer support and we’ll be happy to get an answer for you.

Why the “starts at” cost?

The final cost can’t be determined until we actually get the rack and have it apart to inspect components, and see what parts will be necessary in the rebuild. Obviously, some rack and pinions may require new hard parts due to wear, pitting, or failure. We reuse as many components as we can to keep costs down. Ultimately, we care about the quality and performance of your pump, so replacement parts may be required, which will affect the final cost of your rebuild.

*Attention C4 Corvette customers: Due to poor aluminum alloy being used for the valve housing on C4 Corvettes between 84-87 years, there is an extremely high probability that your valve housing has developed wear rings from the Teflon valve bushings. If we find this to be the case, Turn One must perform necessary work to correct this issue, which involves boring and inserting a steel sleeve in the valve housing. This costs $250 and is a one-time, permanent fix. We are unable to properly rebuild and test your C4 rack without completing this fix. If your C4 is between 84-87, please plan for this additional expense.*
**Attention C5 and C6 Corvette customers: If your rack is leaking from the electro-magnet wires, Turn One cannot guarantee that your rack will not leak from these wires after rebuilding. Turn One takes every precaution to eliminate current or potential leaks but cannot guarantee success in regards to this matter. If you have any questions regarding this, please contact our technical service department.**

Turnaround Times

We do our best to process, inspect, rebuild and test your rack as quickly as possible while maintaining quality standards throughout the process. Obviously, lead times can vary based the individual build requirements and unexpected factors such as random influxes in the quantity of rebuilds. For standard racks like Corvettes, Mustang II, Nissan, Mazda, Toyota, etc., our turnaround is typically within 10-12 business days. Non-standard racks, such as those listed above, may take longer based on sourcing components for rebuilding.
